Non Alcoholic Liver Diseases

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD is a condition where excess fat accumulates in the liver, not caused by excessive alcohol consumption. Its often associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome.

The most prevalent kind of non-alcoholic liver issue, simple fatty liver, is characterised by the accumulation of fat in the liver without any inflammation or cell damage. Normally, it does not worsen or develop into a serious problem.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH, is a significantly more dangerous condition than a basic fatty liver and affects over one-fifth of those with NAFLD. NASH indicates liver inflammation. The liver can become scarred due to cell damage and inflammation, which can also result in cirrhosis, fibrosis, and even liver cancer.

An enlarged liver can cause pain or discomfort in the right upper region of the abdomen, but it may also be completely symptomless.
